Reflecting on the Mundane

Reflecting on the Mundane is a final portfolio that revolves around a series of photographs capturing ordinary everyday people doing common things through their behaviour or body language. A quote by Edwin E. Slosson explains this, “the ordinary man under ordinary circumstances interests us most because he is most akin to us”.

The usage of being in the car enhances the notion of people going about their everyday business through the streets as they enter and flicker through your life in a matter of minutes. The aim was to keep an eye out for unplanned scenarios that would gauge the viewer’s attention by using a wide-angle lens to capture more information within the image.

Visual influencers include Robert Frank, Lee Friedlander, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Alex Webb, and Rebecca Norris-Webb.
