A small group of Griffith University students and I provided specific video clips to the non-government organisation (NGO), Grace House, during our time spent voluntarily creating content in 2018. The end goal was to create a promotional video for their website and a gala donation event.

This video highlights Grace House's programs for children and families in Cambodia. It also includes interviews with Grace House staff discussing the benefits and challenges encountered throughout their time with Grace House.

This video is based on two female farming friends, Suy Vy (50) and Morn Ho (52). The two live and work in the Stae Pou village (located in the Srae Nouy commune and the Varin district of the Siem Reap province) that was once a riddled minefield before APOPO came out to clear the land of hidden mines and UXOs. Each of them had lived in fear for not only their safety while working but that of their children.

Since the mine clearings, they can now live free from the burden of landmines and continue raising their children and cultivating the land.

Part of a collaborated project with Griffith University Film School students and APOPO

In his early twenties, Lang Tao (49) had an unfortunate encounter with a landmine, ultimately leaving him to become an above-knee (AK) amputee and another victim of Cambodia’s landmine issue. Living in the Knar Pthoul village (located in the Srae Nouy commune and the Varin district of the Siem Reap province) with his wife and four children, he worked hard to provide for them while still working living amongst hidden landmines.

With the help of APOPO, Lang and his family are free from the dangers of landmines. They continue to live and farm in the same area but no longer worry about landmines.

This short documentary video is about the non-government organisation (NGO) APOPO. It demonstrates how their work has helped communities throughout Cambodia by extracting hidden landmines and unexploded ordnances (UXOs).

The video follows the journey of the Khmer Sight Foundation’s team during their extremely active missions to help Cambodians that have lost their sight.

As part of the Cambodian photo documentary trip carried out in January 2018, I came across and contacted the team from the Khmer Sight Foundation to document the non-profit work this organisation conducts for the local Cambodian citizens.

This project could not have been completed without the help of fellow Griffith University students in filming, photographing, and editing this work.
